Teams confirmed for 2022 College Rugby Association of America’s Fall Classic in Charlotte, December 3-4 | Latest Rugby News

The College Football Association of America (CRAA) has confirmed that the 2022 Fall Classic will take place on December 3-4 at the Mecklenberg Sportsplex in Matthews, North Carolina.

Headlined by the Women’s D1 Classic and the Women’s D1 and D2 Fall Championships, this action-packed football weekend will also feature two Men’s D1A Bowl Tournaments. All matches will be streamed live for free on The Rugby Network.

The CRAA has partnered with Rugby Football Network (TRN) to offer free online streaming of Championship Weekend, as well as CRAA’s “Game of the Week” in 2023. To complement its end-to-end coverage of the NFL, TRN is excited to expand the football game and bring the college game to the forefront.

“Last year’s championship game was an incredible experience for the CRAA and the participating teams, and we are excited to expand that experience this December. Our goal is to provide student-athletes with a professional experience and to offer support to all fans, alumni of participating institutions broadcast with the audience,” said CRAA President Paul Keeler. “Partnering with the Rugby Network for our tournament and upcoming games of the week will provide alumni and fans at home and abroad with the very best in college football.”

The Rugby Network will not broadcast the D2 semi-finals live, but the championship final will be played on Sunday.

The Mint City Bowl features the CSU Rams from the D1A Rockies Conference against the D1A rookie Kentucky Wildcats. The Wildcats are undefeated in the SCRC D1AA this fall 2022 season and ended their schedule in a tie with Big10 runner-up Ohio State. At the end of the Ohio State game, the Wildcats were invited to try their hand at the 19th-ranked Rams in the fall classic.

The Hornet’s Nest Bowl sees two top D1A teams face off at Ohio State and Penn State. The Buckeye finished second in the Big 10 tournament (No. 17), and the Nittany Lions play in the NFL East this fall. The two teams will meet for the first time this season in the Fall Classic.

The Mecklenburg Sportsplex is a large sports complex and park in Matthews, North Carolina that has hosted the CRAA Fall Classic in the past. Located in southeast Charlotte, the facility features 12 full-size soccer fields and a 5,000-seat stadium.
