This festive weekend saw India pull off a thrilling win over Pakistan in an ICC T20 World Cup match, making Diwali a special one for the country. Indian cricketer Virat Kohli left a mark in everyone’s mind with his unbeaten knock of 82 in just 53 balls and helped his team win the game. Since then, social media posts, private messages, etc. via, praises started pouring in for Virat and the Indian cricket team. Indeed, everyone in the country celebrated the nail-biting victory in unique ways. Some people celebrated the wedding, while others expressed their happiness through social networks. Then there were some brands that offered additional discounts to customers to mark the winner. Take grocery giant Swiggy, for example. The food delivery brand has made some special discounts on every order, which can be availed by the customers using the given coupon.
Coupons and special discounts have always been a part of Swiggy’s marketing strategy when it came out, but what surprised us this time was the unique code on the coupon. It says “KINGKOHLI82” – where 82 stands for the runs scored by Virat Kohli. After a while, the code attracted the attention of several consumers, who began to call it “super marketing” on social networks. It all started when a Twitter user named Sohini M. (@Mittermaniac) shared a post with a screenshot of a Swiggy coupon on the microblogging site. “Well done @Swiggy This is a great marketing moment!” read his post further. See:
