Grubs can damage lawns in all regions of the country, from cool-season lawns in the North to warm-season lawns in the South.

The key to deterring larvae is to remove imidacloprid before the larvae feed. We recommend applying imidacloprid in mid-May and watering it (be sure to water with ½” of rain or irrigation) and it will protect the roots for up to 4 months, which is enough to protect your grass from grain damage.

Imidacloprid can also be used to prevent other insect problems in the lawn, such as suppression of insects, mole crickets, green ash damage and other insect problems in your trees and shrubs. See the product label for more information.

It is a professional formulation and should be applied from a battery sprayer or pump sprayer. It must not be applied from a hose-end syringe such as Ortho Dial N Spray. This does not provide sufficient accuracy for this product.

Imidacloprid can be used at any time during the growing season for both cool and warm pastures on all types of grasses including the following:

Ideally, use this systemic insecticide before the eggs of your target pests hatch. This pesticide harms pollinators such as bees, so do not spray during their activity. To control chinch bugs, apply before hatching of first instar nymphs. To control mole crickets, apply imidacloprid 2F T&O before or during the egg hatching period. If moles are adults, large nymphs or actively tunneling, use another insecticide along with imidacloprid 2F.

Use a hose sprayer, hand pump sprayer or backpack sprayer. Hand pump sprayers are good for spot applications and small grass areas, while hose end sprayers and knapsack sprayers are good for large spread applications.
